Negative —I watched the 2010 “Alice in Wonderland” while babysitting three neighbors of mine. While the scenery, dress, and acting was superb and breathtaking, the whole tone of the movie is dark. The “Alice in Wonderland” I remember as a young girl is nothing like this movie.
Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland was an incredible piece of surrealist literature, written by Lewis Carroll in the dying years of the 19 th century. It has since kept its status as one of the most artistic novels of all time, with all sorts of hypnotically brilliant art emerging as a result.Since Alice is pushing Avatar off many 3-D screens, this film will further test that market as well. A brief prologue establishes young Alice as very much the daughter of her imaginative father.Alice, an unpretentious and individual 19-year-old, is betrothed to a dunce of an English nobleman. At her engagement party, she escapes the crowd to consider whether to go through with the marriage and falls down a hole in the garden after spotting an unusual rabbit. Arriving in a strange and surreal place called 'Underland,' she finds herself in a world that resembles the nightmares she had.

For this review first I’ll discuss the story of the film, and then I’ll address the use of 3D - and how it did or did not help the film. For those that may not already know, this version of Alice in Wonderland is not the same as the animated story Disney produced in 1951, but it does use the same characters.
Alice In Wonderland is currently next to being a kids movie also known as a drug movie. Not only does the name Alice seems to refer to LSD, which was unintentional as LSD did not exist at the time the novel was written, but also does the contents of the movie seem to be segments from a trip.
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (commonly shortened to Alice in Wonderland) is an 1865 novel written by English author Lewis Carroll (the pseudonym of Charles Dodgson). It tells of a young girl named Alice, who falls through a rabbit hole into a subterranean fantasy world populated by peculiar, anthropomorphic creatures. It is considered to be one of the best examples of the literary nonsense.
Tim Burton directs Alice in Wonderland, a 3-D blend of live action and animation. Linda Woolverton's screenplay is based on Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll. Burton and Woolverton have fashioned an exotic adventure tale where the heroine is a strong-willed, resourceful, and courageous nineteen year.
Alice in Wonderland was originally released in 1915 by the Nonpareil Feature Film Corporation, a concern that, per the AFI catalog, had only one other film to its name before folding. Fly-by-night studios were common in the silent era and I suspect that the films and assets (if any) of Nonpareil changed hands several times before landing in the AMPC hodgepodge.

Then fate intervenes as Alice tumbles down a rabbit hole to find herself in Wonderland, a magical world waged in war between the merciless Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter) and the peace-loving White Queen (Anne Hathaway). There is no doubt the film is visually beautiful, from production design, costume and make-up and, of course, the CGI.
This is a Wonderland that holds perils for Alice, played by Wasikowska with beauty and pluck. The Red Queen wishes her ill, and the White Queen (Anne Hathaway) wishes her well, perhaps because both are formed according to the rules of Wonderland queens. To be sure, the insecure White Queen doesn't exhaust herself in making Alice welcome.

Alice in Wonderland on the surface is a dreamlike fantasy about a child nodding off and visiting a wonderful wonderland where flowers sing, caterpillars smoke and rabbits talk. However, similarly to Blue Velvet, this film is not about the surface values, its is about the dark, seedy undertones that exist beneath the aesthetic surface.
This review of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland gives readers insight into the plot of one of the most beloved children's stories ever written.
In “The Annotated Alice”, Gardner has added many annotations to the stories “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” and “Through the Looking Glass and what Alice found there”. These annotations explain amongst other puns and references, or provide more background information that helps you place the story in a Victorian perspective, enabling you to enjoy it as the readers in that time.
Film review: Alice in Wonderland. Posted on Sunday, March 7, 2010 by Crystal Holmes in Film. It’s been a very important date for the last few weeks, but March 5th saw the opening of Tim Burton’s long awaited “Alice in Wonderland”. The 3D spectacle sold out at Lincoln’s Odeon on the evening of release, and with fantastic performances.
